Unveiling the Unsung Heroes of America’s Independence
In honor of this country’s 250th Birthday, coming up on July 4th, 2026, Sapperstein and Murway bring you… “THE FREEDOM RING”.
This amazing new Musical honors all the unsung heroes and patriots of the Revolutionary War, whose names we will never be privileged to know. They are the ones who totally and unselfishly pledged themselves to a cause much bigger than they were because they believed in the great experiment known as “The American Dream”.
Therefore, though based in historical fact, our story is about fictitious characters who might very well have been real but, never made the history books.
Unlike the usual stories of struggles in battle, this tale is dedicated to those who operated the spy rings to provide General Washington with priceless information from behind the scenes in Philadelphia when it was held by the British Military and Loyalist factions. It also speaks to the forgotten women who did their part to help the effort in whatever way they could.
Without these “unknowns”, we might never have become the great Democratic Republic that we are today.
And it all begins with a present-day tour through the historic Philadelphia home of Philmore Fothergill, a wealthy shipping merchant in the late 1700’s. We are immediately reminded that, once we enter a place from the past, we stand in the presence of all the furnishings and items that were there at the time and experienced those events first hand. If only that furniture could talk. Can you imagine the tales they would tell? After all… They were there!
