Synopsis
Tis the night before Christmas and what can we do?
Seem’s that all Santa’s reindeer are grounded with flu!
The presents are packed on the sleigh with great care. But…
we’re not taking off ’cause the reindeer ain’t there.
There’s only one thing we can do to save face.
The substitute reindeer must now take their place.
The shock of the news has them shook to the core
They’ve never been called on to do this before.
It’s hard to imagine all eight would get sick
They’ve only trained four to fill in for St. Nick
So “Quick!” They need four more to fill out the team
That should be quite easy… Or so it might seem
But, what to our wondering eyes should appear?
Just two guys showed up… we’re still short two reindeer.
Oh, what can we do so the answer unfurls?
We’ve no other choice but to fill in with… girls.
And so for this Christmas we’ll hear Santa call
To eight different reindeer… We’ll now name them all.
On Carl and Ed and Roger and Bubba
On Sid and Cybil and Wanda and Lumpy
(OK, so they don’t rhyme! Get over it!)
So though we may have an unusual flight.
We still say…
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Cast of Characters
- CARL – (Reindeer) The group leader.
- ED – (Reindeer) Easy going. Easily amused.
- ROGER – (Reindeer) A nervous wreck. Shaky, very skittish.
- BUBBA – (Reindeer) Very proper. Speaks with a formal British accent.
- SID – (Reindeer) The numbers man. Always calculating how to handle things.
- CYBIL – (Reindeer) Aristocratic. A Southern Belle. Very appearance conscious.
- WANDA – (Reindeer) A tough, but female, girl with a Brooklyn accent.
- LUMPY – (Reindeer) Lovable. Overweight. Dopey.
- RALPH – The Elf Manager. Short, stocky.
- MRS. CLAUS – Sweet little old lady.

Sets:
Main Set – The reindeer dormitory in the reindeer barn. There are two beds, a night table between them and a table with three chairs. There is a small Christmas tree on the night table.
Flying Scenes – Santa’s sleigh. The reindeer take their positions in front of the sleigh, so they appear to be pulling the sleigh.
