TLC Scripts is a family-owned and operated theatrical licensing company built by people who have spent their lives making theatre.

Founded by playwrights Judie Sapperstein and Gary Murway, TLC exists to support productions in the real world, not just on the page. Our work has been performed across the United States, Canada, and Mexico since 2007, but our focus has always remained the same: writing and licensing shows that directors, performers, and production teams can actually use.

A Company Run by Theatre People

Theatre has never been theoretical in our family.

Judie raised her children in music and theatre. Those children went on to raise their own families the same way. Today, that legacy spans generations, from school stages and community theatres to professional careers, including classical and operatic performance abroad.

TLC Scripts is operated by people who have been directors, stage managers, actors, singers, designers, technicians, and producers. We understand rehearsal rooms, tech weeks, tight budgets, volunteer casts, and last-minute problems, because we’ve lived them.

That perspective shapes everything we do.

How Our Work Is Developed

Our scripts and music are developed hands-on.

Much of our work is tested and refined in-house, in a fully equipped recording studio and a flexible black box rehearsal and performance space. This allows us to hear music performed, watch scenes move, and experience pacing and staging in real conditions.

We don’t write in a vacuum. We write for rooms where people have to stand, sing, move, and solve problems.
